Ancient Civilization Day
Polar Express Day
We jumped into our jammies and came to school for another day of learning on Polar Express Day. We learned secrets of a snowflake, constructed 3-D marshmallow figures, and drank hot cocoa while we read the book and watched the movie Polar Express. What a great way to start the holiday break!

Mummy Apples Experiment
We wanted to know what would happen if we left our apple slices in the classroom for 30 days. We decided to cover our apples in gauze, pour either baking soda, epsom salt, or table salt onto our apples, and then leave them in the back room of our class. We made predictions of what would happen and we also recorded observations of the apple. We will continue to monitor our experiment until the end of October and then we will unravel our MUMMY APPLES!! Stay tuned because post experiment pictures will soon follow.

Mummy Apples Conclusion
November 1st we unraveled our mummy apples. We discovered that some of our predictions were close and many were correct. In conclusion, the Iodized Salt preserved our apple the best.

Populations and Community Activity
Our class decided to see what populations really made up our community of learners. We used PTC testing strips to see if we were a "super taster" or not, found out if we had free hanging or attached earlobes, and even discovered that some of us could roll our tongues, but others could not. Our class then marked their traits on their leaves and we categorized them by posting them onto our population traits tree. We eventually discovered that our class was made up of two large populations; the non-super tasting attached lobed tongue rolling students and the super tasting free lobed tongue rolling students! Check out our lesson!
